The 2022-2023 RBC EPIC Founders – Fall Edition wrapped up on Friday, January 13, 2023. Since October, eight student startups had the opportunity to test, validate, and build their business models through this intensive 4-month program. The Founders program connects new startups with mentors and coaches, unique learning and networking opportunities, as well as access to funding. Participants work hard to prepare for the final pitch competition where each startup presents their business model to a panel of judges for the chance to win additional cash prizes.
The final pitch competition was held Friday, January 13th. Our judging panel welcomed EPICentre Director, Wen Teoh, and EPICentre Entrepreneurs in Residence, Maureen Lucas, and David Kirby.
Congratulations to Ehsan Ur Rahman Mohammed, graduate student for the faculty of computer science, for winning the Top Pitch Award. He won the competition for his idea focused on health monitoring and recommendations for people with cardiovascular diseases. His mobile application will provide people with heart health recommendations to improve health and wellness.
Congratulations to the runner-up, David Osiri, graduate student for the faculty of Odette School of Business. His business – TheMentormorphosis – is a continuous value based mentoring platform focused on helping newcomers navigating the education system, language barriers, finding employment, cultural adaptation, and building social connections.
