NextGen CTO Program

Background EPIC Founders

The NextGen CTO Program aims to develop the next generation of CTOs (Chief Technology/Technical Officers). CTOs are important executive-level positions especially in innovation-driven companies as they lead the technology department and oversee the development and innovation of new products and services. CTOs must understand the importance of intellectual property (IP) and how IP can be leveraged strategically to grow their businesses.

Participants will gain an understanding of various forms of IP and develop IP savviness that will give them a competitive advantage in their future careers, whether as a CTO at their own startup or for other organizations.

This program is open to students from all faculties, as well as business owners, entrepreneurs, and like-minded people in our community. We invite anyone who wants to learn more about leveraging Intellectual Property in their projects and businesses to apply.

Throughout the 5-week program, participants will learn key skills, competencies and know-how through a carefully selected combination of:

  • Online learning modules designed to provide an accessible learning environment that fits the participant’s schedule
  • Virtual workshops with engaging speakers
  • Lectures led by specialists in intellectual property
  • Group discussions to diversify participant knowledge
  • Case studies that show IP strategy in action

Participants are expected to complete assigned online modules before weekly webinars delivered by distinguished speakers. Weekly webinars will take place on the Fridays noted in the Key Dates tab from 1:00 to 2:30 pm.

Upon completion of the program, participants will have:

  • Gained an understanding of different types of IP
