NetworkHER: Celebrating Women Entrepreneurs

March 4 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm

The NetworkHER event welcomes students, female founders, and members of the entrepreneurship community from both Canada and the United States. EPICentre is facilitating this event with the support of our partners at the U.S Embassy and Consulates of the United States.

We will be hearing from two incredible American female speakers with both life and entrepreneurial wisdom to share. You can also expect several interactive activities such as shoutouts, photo ops, writing stations and of course delicious food.

Meet our speakers:

Sandy Girard:

Sandy is a trailblazing leader and innovator in the media and entertainment industry who has successfully launched multiple startups that are now large media corporations as well as founding Spkr in 2016 that was acquired.  In 2001, she was a founding member of the team that launched XM Satellite Radio, that became SiriusXM, the largest audio entertainment company in the U.S. She helped to create some of the most critically acclaimed, original programming including Oprah RadioBob Dylan’s Theme Time Radio HourRadio Andy (Andy Cohen), Tom Petty’s Buried Treasure, and much more.  Sandy negotiated distribution of content across all platforms, including on broadcast and cable television, OTT video, mobile and other strategic partnerships.

Sandy was most recently head of content and EVP of Programming and Production at Crooked Media, one of the most successful companies in the podcast industry and oversaw the entire audio, video and social production teams, including for Pod Save America.

Sandy was recognized as Adweek’s “Podcast Executive of the Year” in 2022.  In 2011, the Alliance for Women in Media named Sandy as one of the “60 Most Inspiring Women in Media”.

Sandy also served as a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer in Ukraine, working with NGOs focused on women, community, teen leadership and economic development projects. That experienced ignited a curiosity and appreciation for other cultures and countries, which led her to explore over 30 countries on her solo travel adventure in 2016.

 

Trishauna Linton

Trishauna Linton is an impact driven entrepreneur and Co-Founder of COOK-UP, a food business incubator. Inspired by her immigrant mother’s resilience, Trishauna has dedicated her life to empowering women of colour through business ownership. Her journey led her to the University of Windsor, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and Women’s Studies, laying the foundation for her impactful career. With over ten years of experience working closely with newcomer women, Trishauna has honed her skills in developing programs and creating communities that cultivate a vibrant ecosystem where women can turn their dreams into reality. As a founder, Trishauna embodies resilience, innovation, and a profound commitment to female entrepreneurship, community building and social impact

Felicia Maxwell:
 
Felicia is a wife, mother, personal fitness trainer, nutrition coach, mentor, sought-after speaker, and the proud owner of Fit4Life Health and Fitness LLC. Prior to retiring to pursue her passion and dreams of helping people become physically, mentally, and emotionally fit, she enjoyed a thirteen-year successful banking career as Vice President at Comerica Bank where she managed a portfolio of 25 large corporations with loans of $10 million and above. She has her Master’s in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance and has secured grants and funding for her gym, with a business plan. Through her Fit4Life gym experiences, speaking engagements, and social media, she shares practical insight and wisdom on the importance of healthy eating and exercise as a lifestyle. Her mission is to educate and help people understand the importance of being Fit4Life – spiritually, mentally (mind), emotionally (soul), and physically (body), to fulfill their purpose on this Earth! Felicia is a fitness inspiration to many.
Cindy Thieme:

Cindy Thieme is a results-oriented sales and marketing leader.  Currently, she is the VP, Business Development at Inforum, which is one of the largest non-profits supporting women leaders in business.  In this role, she is responsible for driving revenue to the organization and building world class relationships with a slate of extensive corporate partners.   She works to provide all Inforum members opportunities to engage with leadership development programs, networking and other resources to support each women’s growth path in business.

Prior to Inforum, she spent two years as the Director of Executive Programs at Oakland University overseeing the Executive MBA program.   In addition to this staff role, she has held adjunct faculty status for 20 years in the Marketing Department, School of Business.   Her professional career spanned over two decades in corporate integrated media sales including roles held at Conde Nast, CBS, Disney, TV Guide, and many others which she transitioned out of in 2020. She holds her BS from Oakland University and MBA from Wayne State University.
